Calling all NY/CT/PA/MA climbers! We will be hosting a climbing meetup in Peterskill climbing area! This will be a top rope only climbing day. For those of you who have never been, peterskill is considered the “mini” Gunks. It’s tucked away behind the Shawgunks climbing area and has routes that will challenge any climber. It’s about 10$ for admission into the park, unless you have a lifetime pass, but once you’re in you have range to explore the rest of Minnewaska. All levels are welcome and if anyone has gear please bring it! Most of the routes have bolts to set up TR anchors, some routes we’ll have to build anchors (so bring a static line if you have one) I hope most of you can make it! We’ll be hosting the event on the November 3rd meeting at 8:30 am, with a raincheck date for November 10th same time!
Get your costumes! Sneak out of work a little early, and come celebrate the holiday the right way! On the rocks! We will plan on meeting at the parking lot in Rock Canyon at 12:30 and hike up past the ufirst bridge. We will plan on hitting The Wild, The Zoo, Possibly Low Tide, The Hidden, or Tap Wall. They are all close to each other so we can decide day of, depending on who comes and where the psyche is!
Hosted by: San Diego Ambassador Leandra Hernandez
It's time for another climbing and noms day! Join us for Mesa + Munchies with Girls Who Climb at Mira Mesa - Mission Valley!
Climbing: 3 - 6 PM
Dinner: 6:30 PM at Bivouac Ciderworks! (http://www.bivouaccider.com/) They've reserved a space for us and everything, so please RSVP sooner rather than later so we can get an accurate headcount for dinner.
For all non-MR members, there will be a discount on day passes *if* we are able to get at least 8 non-members to sign up through the following form:https://app.rockgympro.com/booking/f/8493a0a8fbf34414a1e163d72720beaa. If it's password protected, use "Hernandez."

Come spend the day sending some sweet problems at Castle Rock!
Parking: It's no secret, the parking here is pretty rough and I'm not sure when the new lot will be open. Let's all meet up at the parking lot that is about a mile from the entrance on the opposite side of the road at 8:45 am. We'll cram into as few cars as possible and drive to the entrance parking area. Carpools are totally encouraged! (I'll provide a map closer to the date).
Right now I'm thinking we'll head to the main bouldering area around Castle Rock (it's a short hike from the parking lot) - there are a few other areas we can check out if we want or if it gets too crowded. There is no cell service around the park, so I'll post a map of where you can find us if you're late.
Bring some lunch and bring your psych pants!!!

Temps are finally getting prime for trying hard! Come out and enjoy the cooler temps with me! This area is pretty much a big limestone blob! It is known for its positive edges and big pockets! With grades ranging from 5.6-5.13d there is something for everybody to work

Lady Climbers of the Carolinas, let's go rock Ship Rock, a stunning Trad Climbing destination near Grandfather Mountain NC off the Blue Ridge Parkway! Click on the photo above to appreciate the beautiful views from this crag. We chose this area as it's usually one of the cooler crags on which to climb during those hot Carolina summers. Please read event specifics below:
Parking: Rough Ridge Overlook Parking Area (Milepost 302.8) & Wilson Creek Overlook (Milepost 303.6). Milepost marker numbers increase as you go from North to South (MP0 to MP 469). Carpooling is STRONGLY recommended as the parking lots are small and Rough Ridge hiking trails are extremely popular in Summer. Please do NOT park on the grass outside the parking lots or along the road. The Access Trail is about 1/2 mile South of Rough Ridge Lot and 1/2 mile North of Wilson Creek Lot. (see below). We would like to meet at the Access Trail (roughly Milepost 303.0) at 9 AM and hike in together. Blue Ridge Parkway map and link to navigation apps:https://www.blueridgeparkway.org/parkway-maps/
Directions from Parking Lots: See the "Getting There" section of this link:https://www.mountainproject.com/area/105887629/ship-rock
Camping: Julian Price Memorial Park (MP 297.0) and Linville Falls (MP 316.0) area both have campgrounds. The former has showers, the latter does not. Camping is NOT permitted outside designated campgrounds or without a permit at backcountry sites on the Blue Ridge Parkway. For reservations click this link: https://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/camping.htm
Number of Participants: 8 climbers inexperienced in/uncomfortable with Trad Lead Climbing and Belaying. (This is not a Sport Climbing crag). Unlimited number of experienced Trad Climbers. This is NOT a safe area for children and there are several ecologically-delicate areas at the top of the crag. Thus, we ask that ONLY those who are climbing come to the event. A
***Please note your level of experience/comfort with Trad Climbing upon sign up so we are sure not to exceed the limit for those wanting to Top Rope.
Event Information: We must limit the number of inexperienced participants due to limited physical space on the Upper Tier of Ship Rock as we will be setting up Top Ropes on 5.7-5.9 routes for those climbers there. We want to give everyone adequate time and space to climb. Experienced Trad Climbers can spread out to other Tiers of Ship Rock where routes range from 5.7-5.12. We hope to end the evening with dinner at a restaurant in Boone, NC.
What to Bring:
ROPES (we definitely need as many as we can get!)
LAYERS OF CLOTHING (Yes, it may be 90F elsewhere but it can get QUITE cool at Ship Rock in mid-Summer!)
Plenty of Water/Hydration (there are NO stores nearby)
Food for the day
Approach Shoes (the climb to the crag is steep)
EVERYONE MUST HAVE A SIGNED GWC WAIVER ON FILE TO ATTEND!

RISE & CLIMB with us in the beautiful Malibu Creek State Park!
I think I speak for all our SoCal ladies in saying that we are ready to chuck deuces to summer! :p So we’re sending off the summer and welcoming climbing season with open arms :D
We’ll meet up in the parking lot at 7AM and make the short trek out to Stumbling Blocks/Mt Gorgeous at promptly 7:15 (to wait up for late risers).
If you haven’t been this location before, we will be doing a short and easy traverse over some water so just keep that in mind. Stumbling blocks is shaded and a great location for climbers! A short walk back to Mt. Gorgeous offers additional routes that could be great for our more experienced ladies looking to challenge themselves. This location is great as it can accommodate climbers of all experiences!
*This is NOT a co-ed event. WOMEN ONLY.
*Not ideal for kids. (Bring them at your own risk).
*No boulder or trad. SPORT ONLY.
*DO NOT carelessly RSVP “Going” for this even unless you know for sure or mostly for sure that you’ll be able to attend. We like to have an idea of the amount of people going. We appreciate the courtesy.
